Holmes, Oamaru, is acknowledged to be the best sire in the colony, and has been awarded first honors wherever shown. Exchange’s dam, Rose, by Champion, was shown at Shag Valley in 1876, and awarded 2nd prize for the best brood mare on the ground, and in 1877 at Oamaru, was awarded the Gold Medal, beating a field of ten, including the Hon.
