GREAT LOSS OF LIFE. Washington, 14th. A railway collision took place to-day at New Jersey. Two excursion trains collided, and 47 persons have been killed and wounded.

INQUIRY INTO COLLISION. London, 14th

An inquiry lias been held into the cause of the collision which took place on the 19th July between the steamer Centurion and the sailing ship Hydaspes, off Dungencss, by which the latter vessel sunk. The Court found that both vessels were to blame.

SUBMISSION OF BASUTOS. Cape Town, 14th

The Basutos, a native tribe in Habitan tong territory west of Natal, have at last submitted to the colonial troops. There is peace now throughout South Africa.
