MARKETS.

CANTERBURY GRAIN & PRODUCE. {Latest Report.') Not much variation can bo noted in ihe grain market since our last report. There is a fair amount of business passing through hands, and prices in some lines arc more satisfactory in every way. Wheat locally is linn, and first-class samples of milling arc readily saleable up to 4s. For a prime lot of Tuscan an advance of 2s is obtainable on the above quotation. Fair milling lots are quoted at 3s 8d to 3s lud. There has been a considerable enquiry for seed parcels, and sales have been made freely during the week at 4s 2d to 4s Gd. Oats continue in fair request at Is Gd to Is 7d for best milling. Good stout feed quality arc worth Is 4d to Is 5d ; lower grades, Is Id to Is 2d. The Australian advices respecting oats show a healthier feeling, but quotations yet do not show any margin in that quarter for shipment. Considerable parcels arc being put on board ship for England, and the export will no doubt largely increase when freights still further recede. As freight is every day becoming scarcer the prospect of a reduction taking place shortly'may almost be looked upon as certain. Barley. —The market for this grain does not present any new features. Failquality has been sold at 2s 2d to 2s 4d. Good malting commands 2s Gd to 2s Bd, while-first class lots are quoted at 3s 3d to 3s Gd. We hear of the quittance of a large line of prime at 3s 9d. Largo shipments of this grain are being made to England. Potatoes. —We have no alteration to note in the value of these, 22s Gd to 25s being current rates. Flour. —Following the improved value of wheat, millers have advanced the price of flour 20s per ton. Grass>[Seed. —Most of the business

transacted has been second hand. The demand, if anything, has slightly improved though prices are in no way affected. Dairy Produce. —Butter, quiet, at9d ; cheese, 4d, to 44 ; hams and bacon, bare 94d, in cloth lOd.
