Friday Evening
Football. —The match which was postponed on account of the bad weather is to be played between tho Waverley and Patea Clubs on Saturday, the game commencing at 2-30. There will bo a strong team on both sides, and it is expected to be a hard contested game, as there are some good players.
Tho farmers could now do with a few weeks of good weather, ns some of them are anxious to get in their spring crops. Still they must wait for a favourable season, ns it is folly to attempt sowing in wet weather, and they have the consolation that the season has only as yet set in, and there is a good time coming.
Bachelors’ Ball. —This ball is to come off on the 20th, and is expected to be a grand affair. The tickets of invitation have been issued, and arc neatly and tastefully got up. If all the invitations sent out arc accepted, the difficulty will be to find accommodation for the guests; but when there is the will to enjoy an evening’s entertainment, the greater the crowd the more the enjoyment is talked of. It is to be hoped the endeavours of our bachelors to provide an evening’s entertainment may be crowned with success, and that they may have to be congratulated on disappointing no one who wants to be there.
