[K ROM 0U U COllli 1C SI’ON DK N T.] The Weather during the last few days has been very unsettled, but yesterday it showed a decided change for the better.
Diphtheria.—We have heard of no cases this side of Whonuaknra, but there arc a few cases of ulcerated sore throat hero.
The Roads. —The metalling is being carried on through the township, and it is to be hoped that the height of the road may not come in awkwardly with the levels of the footpath. Monthly Sales. —Mr F. R. Jackson held his usual monthly sale here yesterday, and the various sorts ynmlcd seemed of fair quality. Shooting. —Although the shooting season is now begun, very few sportsmen are bagging game. This may be due to the unsettled weather. The Railway. —This section of the line is being pushed on vigorously, although during the last few days not much headway lias been made with the earthwork.
John Saddler has been arrested on ouspicion of having stolen some money from the person of James Dwau, in Dempsey’s public-house. The prosecutor was sleeping on a form, and on awaking found his pocket had been cut away. The prisoner will be brought up at Carlyle.
