We understand that the Mountain Road has been much cut up during the pastfbw weeks. It is so bad now that passenger traffic by coach is suspended till the worst places are made safe. The mails alone are brought on, and much difficulty is experienced in doing this. On the last trip down from New Plymouth, the coach had to be pulled out of a rut by a pair of bullocks. However, we trust next year all these difficulties will be overcome, and that a good metalled road will be found from Inglewood to Hawera. The funeral of the late Mrs W. J. Furlong took place at Hawera- on- Sunday afternoon last, when about 300 persons followed her remains to their last earthly resting place, a large number picsunt being from Carlyle. The funeral services were performed by the Rev. Father Ryan. The s.s. Clyde will leave for Wanganui this day at 11 a.m. The s.s. Patea is adverrised to leave for Wellington at 11.30 a.iin to-day. The resolution wag seconded by Mr Brewer. A lengthy discussion ensued, but the fate of the resolution is not given in the Mail.” The report of the discussion clearly indicated the fate of the motion, but for theinformation of ourcontemporary, we now give the division list, which was omitted by mistake in our last issue.
