PATEA HARBOR BOARD.
Nominations for candidates were received by Returning Officers on Monday last : Hawera Hiding. Mr John Gibson being the only candidate, was declared duly elected. The following were nominated, and polling will take place as advertised. Otoia Hiding. Mr William Balmforth, Mr G. F. Sherwood, Mr Henry Williamson. Wavebley Hiding. Mr W, A. G. Winchcomb, Mr Francis Symes, Mr James Sonthcombc.
PATEA LIBRARY AND INSTITUTE. The annual general meeting of the above Institute, was held on-Friday evening last. Present: Dr Croft (in the chair), Messrs Wray. Fraser, Hirst, lloltham, Smith, Aitchison, Coutts, H. Nicholson, Tennent, Trogcar, J. Black, Thomson, Gibson, Milroy, W. Dixon, and H. E. P. Adams. Minutes of previous aunital general meeting read and confirmed. On the motion of Mr Black, seconded by Mr Milroy, the Balance-sheet as read, was received. Supplementary statement of assets and liabilities to 29th January, was also received. Dr Croft was unanimously re-elected President; H, E. P. Adams, Treasurer; and Messrs Tennent and Gibson, Auditors. Committee was elected as follows — Captain Wray, Messrs Gibson, Tregear, John Black, and H. Nicholson. A vote of thanks was passed to tire late Committee. Proposed by Mr Tennent, seconded by Mr Gibson, arrd carried, “ That this meeting disapproves of the Library Building being used for meetings of other public bodies for the future.” A vote of thanks to the President closed the proceedings.
