[per press agency.] CHRISTCHURCH. May 31. The Agricultural Association, after considering the letter from the Otago Association respecting the establishment of a National Agricultural Society for the Middle Island on the basis of the Royal Society of England, referred the matter to a committee to report upon. The Board of Governor’s of the Canterbury College have resolved to establish five open scholarships connected with the Girls High School, which is making very satisfactory progress. It is also proposed to establish twelve scholarships in connection with the Agricultural College. The Governor this morning was received by Oily Council and guard of honor formed by volunteers. Weather unusually cold.
