CALEDONIAN SOCIETY.
A Meeting of those interested in the' Caledonian- sports, was held at the Albion' Hotel, on Saturday, 12th January. Mr R. E-. Mcßae in the chair. Proposed by Mr Mcßae, seconded by Mr A. Hunter, arid carried, “ That a Society he formed called ‘The Patea Caledonian Society.’ ” Proposed by Mr Tennent,-seconded by Mr Hamilton, and carried, “ That Mr Harris be requested to act as Secretary < pro tent." On the motion of Mr Tennent, seconded!' by Mr A. Hunter,-it was resolved, “ TluAt a committee consisting of fifteen members 1 be nominated, an‘d that the secretary write to all the gentlemen nominated to know if they will accept office.” The following gentlemen were nominated Wairoa—Messrs Cobham, Newland, G. Symes,and D. Dickie. Carlyle—W. Dixon, W. Williams, sen., Tennent, Harris, Hargreaves, S. Dixon, and W. Cowern. Whenuak-ura —-Hutchinson, G. Dasent, and G. W. Gano. Manutahi, Hawera, and Kakaramea —R. E. Mcßae,- A. Hunter,Peacock, Hamilton, Livingston, Mason, G. Bayly, McLean,- C. Gibson, Bercsford, and Lukis.
