(TO ntE KOI Ton (i V THE I’ATEA MAIL,) Silt.— I notice by your issue of Saturday last, a leader appeared with reference to Land in my occupation! at, Whenuakura, severely criticising the conduct of Major Brown, the Native Commissioner. Injustice to that gentleman, I may state that. 1 do not object to bis conduct: in the matter. He has taken the middle course, and done justice to myself and the natives by recommend mg that each he allowed a portion of the land in question. The natives and invself have always been on the best terms, hut certain white men have, through their oi'lieioiisne.ss, retarded, an' amicable settlement of the above question,' I am, Ye.. K,BAYNTON,
