LOCAL STEAM NAVIGATION COMPANY.

' A meeting of the Provisional .Directors of this company Was Held oh‘Saturday afternoon last, at the Albion Hotel, anti a.very fulj attendance were pres'ent. The meeting was called fig .-the purpose of considering the best action to lie taken in order to float the company without delay, as the Government subsidy asked for had been granted, and as everything was most favoVt’rable for tin; enterprise. Mr G. W. Williams was voted to the chair. Air Dale, who had so far acted as Secretary, explained the action that he, in conjunction with others, had taken in reference to obtaining, (he .subsidy, and all (hat had generally-been-done in the matter. lie also , staled the very, light conditions attached, to (he grant ami other- matters in connection with the scheme.

Williams, be appointed a sub-committee, .with" power to add to their ■ number, four to form a quorum.” The draft, of.a prospectus was submitted for the -approval of the meeting, and was generally endorsed by those present.. . Port, Wellington, Air T. .Reid, Wanganui,- Messrs Girdwood i and' Lahman, Greymouth ; Mr John Alunro, Westport, asking them to act ak agents in canvassing for the sale of company’s shares.” Air W. AVilliams seconded the resolution, which was carried without dissent. On the proposition of Air Aleßac, seconded by ALII miter, it was resolved to issue and circulate 500 printed prospectuses and also to advertise the prospectus in the Fatm Mail. Thisconcludcd the preliminary business, and the next 'meeting of the Committee will be held in a few days, to be called by the Secretary. The whole of the proceedings were characterised by groat spirit, and there cannot, be the slightest doubt now that the scheme will be successfully floated.
