A meeting of 'settlers and electors was held at Cotter's Hotel, Makuri, on Thursday. Notwithstanding the ; inclement weather there was an <‘X- ] collent attendance. Mr R. H. Wil- j soi was voted to the chair and ex- i plained that the meeting was called ■ for the purpose of electing trustees j for the Recreation Reserve and of considering County matters generally. Considerable improvements had already been effected on the recreation reserve and it was already in a (com'mendahly forward condition. The election of trustees was then pioceeded with and resulted in the election of Messrs G ,H. AVilson, C. Tylee, J. D Murphy, J. Perry and AV Bennett. Amongst other matters the question of the representation of the riding in the County Council was brought up. Mi H. A. Nevins, o: Annedale, near Alfredton, was present and by special invitation gave his views on County Council matters generally. It was decided t nominate Mr Nevins for the riding and endeavour to secure his return. The meeting was adjourned with a vote of thanks to the Chairman,
