MR ROOSEVELTS STATEMENT

(British Official Wireless./ (Received 10.45 a.m.) RUGBY October 15 President Roosevelt today made reference to the loss of 60 bombers in raid near Frankfurt. Mr Roosevelt said the figure was v/ory high, but we were not losing that number every day. V T e must remember that in the raid we bad put out of commission German production factories and this would restrict manufacture of planes for the Luftwaffe. Altogether in the loss of the bombers. 593 American, airmen had been lost, but possibly one quarter of them had been taken prisoner by the enemy.
