NEW TYPES OF PLANES
MAJOR SEVERSKY’S PREDICTION. Major A. de Seversky, a noted aircraft manufacturer, predicts that 1943 will see the emergence of many new types of planes, including a bomber with twice the hitting power and range of Flying Fortresses ; that the air fighting will move into the substratosphere 50,000 feet and upward, with bombers and fighters utilising supercharged engines and cabins. Moreover, new fighters carrying large calibre guns and even aerial torpedoes are a possibility.
