MOSTLY AIR ACTIONS
IN MIDDLE EAST. (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, Jan. 7. A Middle East joint communique states that yesterday there was nothing to report from our land forces except patrol activity. There was a slight increase in air activity over the battle area, the enemy attempting one or two figliterboinlier attacks causing little damage aid three Messerschmitts 109’s were shot down by ground fire. Allied bombers attacked Susa on the night of January oth starting fires in the railway siding and near the quays while offensive operations wer ( , carried out over Sicily and lainjjedusa Island yesterday. From these and other operations two of our aircraft did not return.
