XMAS TEA FOR TROOPS

PAHIATUA HOSPITALITY APPRECIATED Men from camp in Pahiatua district were entertained at Xmas dinner by local organisations and foregathered on Christmas night at the Oddfellows' Hall where the Women's War Service Auxiliary tendered a Christmas tea for the men. Vo lewer than 54 servicemen enjoyed the hospitality of the sponsors who were assisted by the various women's organisations including the Girls’ Club and the Victory Club. Representatives from these bodies acted as waitresses to serve a tea of meats and salads wHich were undoubtedly enjoyed by the men whose informal speeches of thanks reflected their keen gratitude. The personnel of the 2nd A.S.C. 2nd IR.M.T. later expressed to a “Herald” representative their graU*ful appreciation of the splendid hospitality extended to them by the people of Pahia,tua during the Christmas season.
