SHOCKING NEW PLYMOUTH TRAGEDY
THREE KILLED, THREE INJURED. Electric Telegraph—Psess Association NEW PLYMOUTH, Dec. 22. Three persons were killed and three others injured, two fairly seriously, when a motor-car in which they were travelling was struck by a northbound goods train on, th© level crossing at Paraiti Road, Bell Block, this afternoon. Killed: Miss Minnie Frances Gardiner, of New Plymouth, whose parents live in England * Noel in© Milne, aged nine, daughter of Mr and Mrs X. B. Mile, of New Plymouth; Rex Milne, aged six, son of Mr and Mrs N. R. Milne, New Plymouth. Injured: Mrs Ivy Close Milne, of New Plymouth, wife of Mr Noel Robertson, Milne, now in a military camp in New Zealand, and sister of Miss Gar diner j head injuries, condition fairly serious; Lynette Betty Milne, aged four, daughter of Mr and Mrs R. R. Milne; head injuries : condition fairly serious; Mr Wilfred j Wright, aged about 60, of Rahotu The train was fairly long ai d heavy ! and the car, a large sedan model I driven by Mr Wright, was completel ly wrecked, being carried some disj tanc© and forced through a fence Miss Gardiner and the two Milne j children were killed outright and the j remaining three occupants of the | car were admitted to the New Plymouth Public Hospital.
