MR HOLLAND DROPS MASK
SAYS MR FRASER Electric Telegraph—Press Association WELLINGTON, Oct. 4. Referring to Mr Holland’s statement that the basis for the postponement of the general election had disappeared, Mr Fraser said that the question raised by Mr Holland would no doubt be the subject of discussion during the coming resumption of Parliament. “But quite frankly,’ said Mr Fraser, “the war and our war effort occupy a much more urgent and important place in my thoughts. Apparently, however, Mr Holland considers the moment opportune to drop the mask and reveal the real reason for the recent resignations. As a consequence what was proclaimed as an attitude of high principle would now appear to have dwindled into a mere petty party opportunism. “T envy Mr Holland*s confident prophetic forecast as to the war conditions in three months’ time. With a full knowledge of recent developments. particularly i n the Pacific. 1 can only indicate that I do not share that confidence.”
