(From “Pahiatua Star’' 28/9/92.) The secretary of the Pahiatua Cricket Club reported at th© annual meeting that th© club played ten matches last s-easdn, winning seven and losing three. The best averages were A. Selby 12.8, Chambers 11.3, G. Griffiths 9.8, H. Griffiths 9.4. Bowling: D. Hew at t 485 balls, 34 maidens, 143 runs, 39 wickets, average 3.7. The subscription for the year will be: Adults ss, boys 2s 6d. The following tobacco prices are quoted in Mr Allan Smith’s adverisement: Cigarettes 4d a packet. Swiss cigars 2s a bundle. Honey dew tobacco 4s 6d a lb., cake tobacco. 4s 6d a lb. Juno tobacco ss. Hardware: Wire £ll per ton, staples 19s per keg. The contract for the levelling and formation of th© Mangatainoka railway station will be completed this week. The area of the yard is about five acres. It is expected l that a number of fresh contracts will be let as soon as the Public Works Statement is delivered.
