“LODGERS" WITHOUT PYJAMAS
What might have appeared to be rather a general habit in the Far North of sleeping without pyjamas was disclosed during a Court case in Koitada (writes the Star's Whangarei correspondent). Of four men found in an hotel bar on Sunday, claiming to be bona-fide lodgers, none had pyjamas, tooth brushes or shaving gear. One, in giving evidence, said he never wore pyjamas, and another said he woro them only sometimes. This odd state of affairs was considered by Mr Raymond Ferner, S.M., to be due to lack of bonafides rather than lack of appreciation of bedtime comfort, personal hygiene, or the introduction of the coupon system.
