TIMBER MILL APPEALS

ONLY ONE UPHELD Messrs Gardner and Yeoman Ltd , appealed for William Duncan Holland, lorry driver, John Robert Thompson, box man, and James Thomson, mill hand. The first case is sin© die and the other two men were set down to enter camp at the end of June. Mr Gardner told the committee that if the men had to tr o they could be released at the end oi May. The company had not taken advantage of the Timber Controller’s consent to work a 4B hour week as against the 40. The log supply did not warrant that. Mr T. Jordan suggested that if th e factory worked one hour longer per day it might release one man for camp. John Charles Ernest Cavanagh, bushinan, also was granted a postponement of service but in this instance the appeal was lodged by E. C. Oavanagh on grounds of Public Interest.
