ORGANISING THE HOME GUARD

MEETING IN TOWN LATER THIS MONTH. With the present series of Home Guard recruiting meetings taking place in the surrounding country districts, it has been suggested by some that the organisation in the town was being overlooked. This is not so. The Pahiatua Home Guard committee originally decided to invite an outside speaker for a large public meeting in the town ana follow this up with smaller meetings in outlying parts. The invited speaker was the Dominion Commander. Major-General R. Young who. however is unable to come at present. Believing it unwise to delay further, the committee arranged for the country meetings to be held first with the co-operation of the area, commander. Ca.pt. AY. R. Birch. If General Young can come to Pahiatua about the middle of the present month the meeting will be held in town then and an alternative date will be arranged for if he is unable to come at all then another speaker will be invited. Whatever the circumstances. a meeting in the town is.assured.
