ATTACKS ON VICHY LEADERS. United Press Assn.— j3v Electric Telegraph.—Copyright. LONDON. February 1. The Paris radio announced the formation of a “People’s Committee which is a rival to Marshal Petain’s National Union. The new Committee favours full collaboration with Germany. Its members are al| notorious proNazis and their leader (M. Fontenoy) is described bv the German radio as being close to Laval. In a broadcast from Paris M. Fontenoy made a vicious attack on the Vichy leaders, except Marshal Petain. He was particularly violent on M. Flandin, who succeeded Laval, and who was accused of failing to carry out his task of callaborating with Germany. WEYGAND’S COUNTERBLAST. General Weygand, broadcasting from Algiers, appealed to French North Africa to collaborate loyally in reconstruction under Marshall Petain. He warned that action will be taken against all propagandists. "Wc will build a new Africa in which there wili be no place for politicians. You will hear one day from your chief. What we want from you is faith and confidence.”
