THE PIHA CASE
TO OPEN TO-DAY ABOUT FORTY EXPECTED TO GIVE EVIDENCE. Electiic Telegraph—Press Association AUCKLAND, Last Night. About 40 witnesses whoa Lence will mean the production of 100 exhibits will be heard in Court proceedings of- the Piba fire mystery case which opens to-morrow morning. It is expected to last two full days and possibly more. Mr C. It, Orr Walker, S.M., will be on the Bench. The two accused are Gordon Robert McKay, wool and skin dealer, aged 43, and James Arthur Talbot, aged 38, both of Australia. They are jointly charged with improperly interfering with a dead human body, that of Patrick Henry Shine, at Auckland on February 10, and with wilfully setting fire to the dwelling house of Frank CarewThomas, and thereby committing arson at Pilia on February 12. Detective-Sergeant W. L. Alford, who has charge of the detective staff at Newcastle. New South Wales, arrived by the Aorangi to-day to give evidence in the case.
