WAIPUKURAU EWE FAIR
NEW HIGH VALUE FOR TWOTOOTH EWES. ElecDip Telegraph—Press Association HASTINGS, Last Night. A new high level was reached for two-tooth ewes at the second ewe fair held at Waipukurau to-day when a line reached 32s 3d, better by 7s on the first fair at the same centre and nearly 3s on the last Stortford Lodge fixture. The yarding consisted of 42,600 and included some of the best-known drafts in the district. The quality was well maintained and buyers were afforded a wide selection. The market generally showed a rise from Is to Is 6d a head on the last sale. Two-tooths ranged from 27s to 32s 3d for best and from 23s 7d to 26s 9d for the rest. Fourtooths were up to 29s 6d (average 23s to 28s 6d), six-tooth made 21s to 27s 6d, four-year ewes ranged from 21s 2d to 23s 9d, fiye-vear from 19s to 20s lOd for tops and 14s to 18s 9d for tin* rest. Six-year-olds and aged sheep brought 13s fid to 16s for good, firm-mouthed sheep, others langing from 10s. The selling was followed by a record crowd of buyers, present from Waikato and Afanawatu. Five-year ewes made up the bulk of the yarding, for which there was a keen inquiry.
