KING'S THEATRE.
TWO FEATURES TO-NIGHT. “There Goes the Groom” and “The Crime of Dr. Hallet" will be screened at the King's Theatre to-night and to-morrow at 8 p.m. With a unique theme for its sparkling comedy and delightful romance, BKO Radio’s “There Goes the Groom” has Ann Sotliern. Burgess Meredith and Mary Boland in the leading roles. Amnesia, the medical term for loss of memory, plays a part in the plot, of this uproarious screen romance. Meredith portravs a young college man who has gone to Alaska to seek his fortune and returns with millions, only to find the girl who promised to wait for him now engaged to another man. Embittered, Meredith finds himself in a position where he has to propose marriage to the faithless damsel's younger sister, Miss Sotliern —but he doesn’t want to marry her. An automobile accident gives him an excuse to evade his responsibilities by pretending he has amnesia and doesn’t know anybody—but this in turn leads to unforseen complications in a continuous gale of hilarity. “The Crime of Dr. Hallet” is a powerful and poignant picture. It tears at the heart-strings and holds the interest from the moment that Dr. Hallet is first seen fighting a thragic misunderstanding in his Sumatran jungle laboratory, until the moment when he plucks victory and love from the jaws of defeat and the snares of hatred. Ralph Bellamy, Josephine Hutchinson and William Gargan portray the principal roles.
