THE FOOTBALL DINNER

B EBBING TON SHIELD TEAMS ENTERTAINED. After tin' game on Saturday night the Bush Rugby Union were the hosts to ’both the Bush and Dannevirke Bebbington Shield teams and officials at a dinner held in the Club hotel. An excellent menu was provided by the proprietor, Mr. K. A. Irvine and the whole function went off with a swing. The president of the Bush Rugby Union, Air. R. J. Smith, presided and the following toast list was honoured. The King, proposed by All*. R. J. Smith. The Visiting Team, proposed by Air. R. J. Smith and replied to by the manager of the Dannevirke team, Air Tatare. The Challengers, was proposed by Air. S. Olliver, the Bush selector and the captain of the Dannevirke team, Air. E. Hunt,, replied. The Referees, Messrs Matson and Stringfellow was proposed by Air J. AlcSherry and was replied to by Alessrs Alatson and Stringfellow. The toast of the Holders of the Bebbington Shield, the Bush Rugby Union, was proposed by Air. Walsh, a Dannevirke referee, Mr, S. Olliver replied. The Host and Hostesses, Mr and Mrs. Irvine was proposed by Air. C. Wilton, Air. Stringfellow also speaking to the toast. Air. Irvine replied. The Staff of the Club Hotel, was proposed by Air. AI. Galvin. The health of that grand old man, Skipper Irvine, was proposed by Mr. L. Chatwin and Air. Irvine "replied.
