General situation: An anticyclone is new crossing the Tasman sea and extends on to the southern portion of the South Island. Pressure is still relatively low in the north but is rising rapidly. Forecast: Strong southerly winds, reaching galo force at times but gradually decreasing. The weather will be cool and changeable with passing showers, mainly cast of the ranges, but gradually improving. Seas rough but moderating.
