EXQUISITE FROCKING

AT JUNE WEDDING RICH ARDS—WILLIAMS When Merle Elizabeth, eldest of Air. and Airs. W. V. I. W illiams, of Woodlands road, Woodville, and formerly of Pahiatua, was married, on June 15, to Frank Liew--•ellen, elder son of Mr. and Airs. Ralph Richards, also of Woodlands road, she wore a slim-fitting gown of ivory satin, made with a square neckline, with ivory lace yoke and insets of lace in the long-fitting sleeves. The gown was cut with a long oval train with gauntlets of lace, which made a pretty finish to a dainty ensemble. Her veil, kindly lent by a cousin, was of ivory tulle, richly embroidered with satin true lover’s knots and it was held in plaqe with a coronet of orange blossom. She also wore white satin shoes, and carried a shower bouquet of rose 3, chrysanthemums, spring bulbs and maidenhair fern.

The ceremony took place in the Methodist Church, which was beautifully decorated with autumn leaves, berries and spring flowers by girl friends of the bride. The happy •c ouple stood under a silvered wedding Ibell. R|ev. T. Coatsworth officiated. The service was choral, the organist being Airs. A. J. Smith, of Woodville (sister of the bridegroom), and the h>mns, “The Voice that Breathed,” and “O Happy Home,” were sung. The bridal party entered the church to the strains of the Wedding March. The bride, who was given away by her father, w .s attended by Aliss L. J. Richards (chief), sister of the bridegroom, and Aliss M. E. Morgan, cousin of tne bridegroom, who wore pink shimmer frocks with laoe insets at the neckline, long flowing skirts with godets of lace in centre front, long-fitting sleeves with high shoulders, and finished at the back with si. sh and tiny satin buttons. They carried pink ruched muffs with not fiills and sprays of real carnations. They also wore Robin Hood hats of the same material and pink lace with silver shoes.

The little flower girl, Aliss Bethel Williams (sister of the bride), wore a princess frock of pink shimmer satin with ruched panels, buttons, and loops at the back, silver shoes, and head 'band of roses (pink and silver), and ruched muff with spray. The best man was Air. H. Richards <brother of the bridegroom), the groomsman Air. J. Hurley (cousin of the bridegroom), and the ushers Messrs C. Worboys and K. Strand. The reception was held at the Forresters’ hall, Woodville, the guests numbering 140, these including relatives and friends from Wellington, Featherston, Wanganui, Pahiatua, Bay of Plenty, Alorrinsville, Eketahuna and Hamilton. The bride’s mother wore a floral navy silk marocain frock, navy coat, large fur collar, velour hat, and navy shoes and gloves to tone. The bridegroom's mother wore a black costume with three-quarter black astrachan coat, with hat, shoes, gloves and pi rse to tone. The three-tiered cake, which was greatly admired, was made by the bride’s mother. Rev. Air. Coatsworth presided and the usual toasts were honoured Alany congratulatory messages were received. During the afternoon solos were rendered by Aliss G. Webb, of Wellington, cousin of the bride, and Airs. A. -T. Smith, of [Woodville, sister of the bridegroom. The bride travelled in a navy costume and grey velour hat, and wore a, squirrel necklet, the gift of the bridegroom, navy shoes and gloves. She also carried a navy coat with gre-v squirrel fur trimmings. The future home of Air. and Airs. F. L. Richards will be a Woodlands road. The wedding gifts were beautiful, numerous and costly, and includi’d several cheques. After the reception the homo of the l)ride’s parents was thrown open for the guests to view the presents. The bridegroom’s gifts to the bridesmaids were amber brooches, set In gold, and to the flower girl a gold aimlet.
