A basketball team has been formed in Hukanui, interest being very keen.
The ( < unt\ Council workmen were busy yest< rday in the Hinernoa Gorge clearing away debris on the road caused by a slip.
‘‘l have rever yet been in sympathy with strikers and never will be,' said Mr C. J. at last night’s meeting of the New Zealand Workers’ Union, in discussing union rules in connection with strikes and stop-work meetings. “Strikes are not always the fault of the men but in som e cases can fee attributed to some amateur organisers,” he said.
On Saturday afternoon the final for the ladies championship was played on the Maugamutu tennis courts between Misses Kathleen. O'Brien, and Xgaire Etz. The former playing very accurately and steadily had au early lead in each set but Miss Etz’s shot variation and placements stood her in good stead and she won both 6—5. 6—5.
