SHOOTING FATALITY.
Electric Telegraph—Press Association CHRISTCHURCH, Last Night. Donah! Maofarlane, aged about 19. was fatally wounded by a shot accidentally discharged Iron; a. companion’s rifle while rabbit shooting near Waikari this afternoon on a drivewav. Macfarlane and liis companion, Thomas McCabe, aged !7 saw two hares and fired at them. McCabe reloaded and apparently turned to. Macfarlatie, who was standing about three yards away. As McCabe turned, with both hands on the rifle, it went off. and Ala ef aria tie fell to the ground. McCabe tried to lift him. but Macfarlane made no resjM»nse to his efforts, and McCabe uhen ran for help to a Glenorchy homestead, one mile away. Macfarlane was dead when he was examined by Dr. Page', of Waikari. Efforts are being made by the police to trace Macfarlane’s relatives.
