ANNUAL TEA PARTY. Opened under auspicious circumstances marking tile 50thi anniversary of* tile establishment of ATetbodisni in Pahiatua this time last year the Pahiatua Methodist .Sunday school hall was the scene of a joyous party- when the first anniversary of the opening of the building wa.s celebrated with an old tune tea meeting. The Ladies’ Guild had gone, to great pains to provide a repast worthy of the occasion and those present who included both young and old. greatly appreciated the. excellent fare .served on tables which were attractively decorated with spring flowers. Alter tea. quite a, number who had been unable to attend that very important part of. the programme, called in making quite, a large assemblage at the hall. During the evening Mr J. J. Boagoy, secretary to the trust, presented Ills report on the roar’s activities in which he thanked all who had assisted the Church in various ways. Ihe accounts showed a small credit balance, he said, but pointed out that the full co-operation of the people was necessary to keep matters in. a satisfactory position. The new schoolroom had proved a. valuable asset since it was erected last year. Messrs Boagey and J. W. Greaves contributed songs and were heartily applauded. Unfortunately several other performers were unable to come at the last minute and this part of the programme had to be cut effort. However an amusing programme of games and competitions »*as organised which filled in a splendid evening. Supper was served later on and the function concluded with the singing of Auld Lang Syne.
