AIR AND MRS BOAYDEN H ONOURKD.
The popularity of Air AY. Bowden of I’ahiatua was. Hilly evidenced on Saturday night when he ami MrBowden were tendered a farewell function in the Mayfair Hall prior to their taking up residence at Allison, Palmerston North. Old-time dancing was the order of the evening and everyone spent a happy time to music played by AltPeter Jackson. Air Ei ie Hirst and Airs AY*. H. Alurcli contributing much appreciated extras. Air R. L. Parker as M.C. kept things going with a swing. After a delicious supper had been partaken of Air Parker called on tho guests of iho evening to come lorward* voicing the regret of their many friends at their departur, ro Palmerston North. He recalled Air Bowden’s long association with Pahiatua and said in his official capacitv he had been very popular with the travelling public. He then called on the guests to accept a hearth rug and a smoker’s stand, as a token of tho esteem in which they were lu-ld. Air and ATrs Bowden were accorded musical honours. Air Bowden in reply expressed his regret at leaving tin district ulirrthey had so many friends and he thanked all present for tho honour thus paid them. He speciallv m«i-» tinned Alesdames YV. J. Afills'and Tr Alitchell who had organised tho function. A lucky spot waltz was won hv Air and AH's C. Hewitt. Dancing continued until midnight when tho gatlierino t< rminnteJ with the singing of “ Vuld Lang Syne.”
