MAKOMAKO DANCE.
RIFLE CLUB FUNCTION. The Makomako Public Hall was crowded last night for the Alakoliiako Miniature Rifle Club’s wind-up dance, and everyone who attended appeared to spend a most enjoyable evening. Air H. Eddie was M.C. and the music supplied by the Ragamuffins was fill that could be desired. After supper had been served Mr F. Ebbett, President, referred to the formation cf the club same seven years ago, when the Bush Association also came into being. Air J Byrne had generously donated a siiied for the champion club and Nireaha were the first winners with an average score of 94 for the season. The next year Makomako won it with an average score of 94. They had since held it for five years making an average of over 96 one year, and putting up an. Association record of 982 o)i the Mangatainoka range. This year the club had been beaten for the Shield by Xireaba who had shot very consistently and were undoubtedly the best team. The speaker- then presented trophies won during the season to .?. Sargent (championship and a handicap trophy); J. Gailick (handicap); W. G. Eising (handicap); J. Day’(handicap aggregate ami another handicap trophy). A AXontc Carlo- waltz was wen by Aliss Hope Kershaw and Mr Jack Paget. A novelty balloon feature was also introduced and caused much excitement spec-fall 3 among the ladies, one dancer going to great lengths to keep hers intact. An extra was .played by Aliss Dorothy Day and members of St. Peter’s Club danced an exhibition tap ballet.
