IN HONOUR OF AIIS3 F. CORN FORTH. Air and Airs R. Cornforth, ui Oete, gave a jolly nttle party m the Mayiair Hall on Alonday evening to celebrate the coming-uiago of °tlie eltier ciaugliter, Florence. Despite the wretched night, there was quite a large gathering ot Aliss Cornfortii s fr.ends, one party having made the trip irom Wellington specially to be present, and needless to say everyone spent a most enjoyable nignt, the greater part oi wiiich was spent in dancing to the excellent music provided by Air Laurie Hartley. Several games were also introduced, and these helped to pass off a very happy evening. Fellow-workers oi Aliss Cornfortli’s had gone to much pains to decorate the hall With pretty shades of crepe paper, and not the least noticeable was a. huge golden tinted key hung immediately over the nicely-arrang-cd supper table, where the cake and its 21 candles occupied pride oi place. At a suitable juncture in the programme Air F. S. H. Bolton, who presided at the lestive table, called the toast oi the evening, and in proposing Aliss Corniortli s health, remarked that her many friends were glad to avail themselves oi the chance of doing her honour, and all joined with him in extending hearty congratulations on the attainment of her majority, which he hoped would be lollowed by many more happy years. After Aliss Cornforth was accorded musical honours, Air Bolton called on Air C. Davies to respond on behalf of the former, which he did with due grace and brevity. A little visitor irom Wellington, Dons Robson, cut the kev from the ceiling and presented the time-hon-oured symbol of majority to the guest of the evening, who was then called on to light tho candles which were later extinguished' by her younger sister Alyra. The health of Mr and Airs Cornforth was also honoured, and Air Cornforth thanked those present for doing so. and honouring tlioir daughter’s birthday in such a lieartv manner. Air Nick Wilton and his guitar were in much demand durincr the evening, and treated the party to some fine numbers.
