Accused was a Maori. Osborne Hu ray who pleaded guilty. Detective MeW hirter stated that tho speed of accused’s car was described as being terrific, while a friend who had been in town with him on the day of the accident said that accused was so intoxicated thaD he prevented him, from using his car until later in the day. Counsel said that accused’ s recollection cf the incident was very vague, although he remembered lifting something.
