SIX MONTHS’ QUOTA. AN AGREEMENT REACHED. Electric Telegraph—Press Association WELLINGTON, Last Night. A statement on the meat agreement between the British and New Zealand Governments was made today by the Prime Munster (Mr -VIJ. Savage). „ . “The New Zealand Government says Mr Savage, “has now completed its negotiations with the l 111 jeu Kingdom Government regarding tne quantities of New Zealand beet t arrive in British ports during the first six months of 1936. Under the arrangements made New Zeatancl will able to ship 392,000 cwt of all classes of beef, including Irozen and chilled beef and veal. ihe amount olj chilled beef which can he included in this quantity amounts to 120,000 cwts. “The United Kingdom Government through the High Commissioner has cabled expressing appreciation of the helpful co-operation received from the New Zealand Gov~ ernment during negotiations. The 120,000 cwts of chilled beef agreed upon is quite satisfactory, showing a substantial increase over quantities which were shipped for the period last year, namely 52,000 cwts.

“Since the inception of our export trade in chilled beef considerable development has taken place and lities for treating and loading chilled beer in New Zealand have been increased and improved, also a larger amount of shipping accommodation is now available as the shipping companies have provided ships more especially fitted for the trade. “The condition of our chilled beef on arrival in the United Kingdom has been very satisfactory and the development which nas taken place is proving most helpful to the export trade of the Dominion. ’
