PAHIATUA SHOW.

A big “working bee,” practically tin* whole of the executive of the Association, headed by the president (Mr F. E. Ward) laboured with tireless enthusiasm and energy all day yesterday on the showgrounds, and by 5 p.m. the sheej> and cattle' pens were erected, the jumps built, the debris ©:' the recent gale removed, and everything placed in readiness for to-morrow’s big day. In every section of the show, with the sole exception of the chopping events for which 60 entries have been received, including some of the most expert axemen in the North Island, the entries are well ahead of last year’s total. The entries for th© hack classes and jumping contests are exceptionally good, the jumping events being the best for very many years. There will be keen competition in the Jersey section, with quality well represented, as there are quite a number of new exhibitors There are over 100 entries in the sheep classes, and competition will he quite good in the Romney Marsh and Southdown classes. There will be a. large number of sideshows, including the famous St. Moritz Skaters, also a merry-go-round for the children. The publican’s booth will l>o in charge or Mr G. G. Hi 1.1, of the Rutland Hotel j while the soft drinks, fruit, lollies, luncheons and afternoon ten will be under the supervision of Mr A. East. The stewards lor the various sections are asked to put in an appearance as early as possible, and breakfast will be served at about 7.30. The dog trial will commence at about 9 a.m., entries for which will be accepted on the ground. With favourable weather conditions (and present indications are highly encouraging) the attendance will be a record one.
