Borough Council at a special meeting resolved to forward the following telegram to the Prime Minister: ‘‘Mv fellow Councillors and citizens join in wishing to tender to his Majesty King Edward VIII. and Queen Mary and all members of the Royal Family our deepest sympathy in the death of our late beloved sovereign, and share with the nation in universal sorrow for the great loss the Empire has sustained.
