PAHIATUA BOROUGH COUNCIL.

OVERSEER'S REPORT. The Borough overseer (Mr T. Clarke) 'reported to the Pahiatua Borough Council last night as under : A new culvert has been put in to Air Marshall’s property, Alain Street, and also to Air J. Murdoch’s property in Alain Street. Water pipes have been repaired at corner of Princess and Tyndall Streets. New decking has been placed on Albert and King Street bridges. A rubbish collection was made on December 16th, eight loads ill all. Tar patching has been done en roadway and footway in Alain Street. Footpath has been cleaned in Dawson and Alain Streets. Footpath and water-table cleaned in Tui Street. The Alain Street was cleaned regularly during the holidays. The team has completed mowing tlie grass in the streets and also mowing grass at Recreation Ground. Aletal has been blinded with clay in Edward Street. RESERVOIR.

The reservoir was inspected as follows: December oth. inspected at S.oo a.m. and found in excellent order both a.t intake and springs, overflow inches; December 10th, inspected at 2 p.m. and settling pans cleared, overflow 2i inches; December 17th, inspected at 1,50 p.m. and at 3.30 p in., overflow I£ inches; December 27th, inspected at 9 a. m. and found in good order, overflow 2 inches: January 3rd. inspected and found in good order, overflow II inches; January 16th, inspected at 9 a.m. and in good or-

der, overflow 2 inches. Settling pans cleaned, and springs inspected and found in good working order.

WORKS COAXAIITTEE REPORT. The works committee have to re porjt as follows:

The next two months arc usually the most favourable for recoating and repairing footpaths and roadways with one of the bitumen emulsions. The committee has inspected roads and footways in the Borough and finds that there is over one mile of footways that require recoating or repairing. We recommend that tlie following work he done: Recoating work of footpaths: Queen Street from Alain Street to Sedcole Street, south side; George Street, from Alain Street to Sedcole Street, south side; Sedcole Street, from King Street to Tiraumea Road, east side ; Wakeman Street from Tyndall Street to Huxley Street, north side: Tyndall Street from Wakeman Street to Edward Street. east side; Albert Street from Tararua Street to Dawson Street, east side: Albert Street from Huia Sreet to King Street, east side; Arthur Street from Huia Street to King Street, west side. Repair work on footpaths: The following footpaths require repairing: Cambridge Street, Dawson Street and Princess Street. Now work : The following new works require to l>e undertaken: Three chains on Sedcole Street, West side, from Princess Street westwa ids.

The Town Clerk has been instructto obtain prices for the supply f Colas and Colfix.

Huxley Street drain: This requires cleaning out as soon as the water recedes sufficiently to enable the work to be done.
