SEARCH PARTIES OUT.
LOST IN RANGES. EKETAHUXA PARTY MISSING. Yesterday four young men from Eketuhuua-—three brothers named Dawson and a University student named Allis ter McCowan, soil of Constable McGowan, of Eketahuna deckled to make a short visit to the Tararuas to do some shooting, a net as they intended to be home before nightfall none of the party took any food. Darkness set in without any sign of their return and although their people expected them hourly, the night passed without any word from them. There was still no sign of the party this morning; and so it was decided to organise searchers to scour the ranges for them. Constable Boyd, of Shannon, organised a party, and set out from the other skhe of the range, and Constable McGowan left on a similar excursion in charge of an Eketahuna party which followed the route the shooters were supposed to have taken. The Pahiiatua, police were also notified and Constable Houston was despatched this morning, to organise volu nt( »er s I<m ‘a 11 y. Had tlie party taken food with them the anxiety would not have bet'ii so great. In it. owing to the wet night and the misty state of the ranges, every effort is being made to find the missing, men with all possible speed.
