HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY.

TUESDAY’S MEETING As a mark of respect to the memory of the late King George, the members of the Horticultural and industrial Society, who mot in the office of the secretary yesterday afternoon decided to adjourn the meeting for a lortniighi. The following motion (moved by Alr J. A. Walsh) was passed: “That this meeting expresses its deep regret at the passing oi the late King and profound sympathy with the Queen and members of the Royal Family.” Air Walsh added that when the history of King George V. comes to be written he will go down to posterity as the greatest monarch who has ever sat upon th v * British throne —great in his goodness of heart, great in hi< love of justice and great in bis untiring efforts lor the peace and happiness of mankind. He has set uflier rulers a noble example. He had filled his exalted position with honour and dignity, and no British monarch has won the 10-ve and esteem of In’s people to the same extent as the late King. Ho has passed through the greatest crises in the history ot the British Empire, and throughout the momentous days of the* Groat War maintained a calmness of demeanour that evoked tho highest admiration. Alenibers stood in silence while the motion was passed.
