Owing to tlie telegraph services being unavailable to-morrow (Anniversary Day) there will be no publication of the Herald.
The Public Trust Office, Paliiatua, has advised the Paliiatua Howling Club that a former member, the late Mr A. H. G. Baxter, had bequeathed a set of bowls to the club for the use of its members.
Mr Y\ . C. Coldieutt, proprietor of the Commercial Hotel, has donated one guinea towards the prize-money ior the best district hack at the Pahiatua A. and P. Show, to be held on February 14th, and a similar amount for the local horse gaining the most points in the open hunters’ competition.
The home and home visit between Paliiatua and Woodville Bowling Clubs takes place to-morrow (Anniversary Day), and the return match will be played at Woodville on Wednesday, February 9. The Man son and Barr Cup match against Levin Club at Pahiatua lias been postponed till Saturday next.
