WOMEN'S INSTITUTE.
BALLANCE AIEETING. (By Press Correspondent.) The December meeting of the Bal--1 a lice AA’omeii's Institute was held on 11th inst., Airs McKenzie presiding over a poor attendance. The motto was: “Friendship, like holly, may prick occasionally, but is always green and bright.*’ Airs Etsing demonstrated the art of making sea grass stools, some beautiful designs being on show. The competition was a Christmas novelty costing Is 6d. The winner was Airs J. Bryant, Airs Zeinert being second and Airs C. Holdaway third. The hostesses’ competition, writing the names of flowers beginning with the letter «‘P,” was won by Airs Eising, Airs C. Holdaway being second and Airs Zeinert third. The roll call was “AA'iiat part of the day I like best.” Afternoon tea was served by Alosdames Watt, Humphrey and Brcmner, after which the president wished everyone a merry Christmas and a bright and prosperous New Year,
