The monthly meeting of the Akitio County Council was held in the Council Chambers, Pongaioa. on Monday, 11th November, 193.. and was attended by Crs. K B. K. hertson (chair), C. P. Hunter A \\. The Public Works Deps advised remittance ot subsuhe- in respect of the following works: Pahiatua-Pongaroa Mam Highway, Lodge bridge £343 8s 4d Hi. hard s bridge £216 13s 4d ; Hmm Main Highway, Robertsons bridge £ll6 ]3s 4d, Rakaunui bridge approa. lies eunu 18s Id; Government vote works, Glenora Hoad Crooked ( reek bridge *£225 and Spur Road < Xtension, £59 16s Id; total £1266 - 3d. —Received. The traffic inspector, No. 10 District. reported -on the brakes and lights tests carried out in the Akitio County during September. 1'.’30. Letters were received from the Prime Minister and from Mr G. I{. Sykes acknowledging receipt • the letters from this Council sup orting the resolutions as passed by the Waitomo County Council with reference to the question oi N rating. Advice was received that arrangements have been made with the Railways Department ior the Main Highways Board to take maintenance of level crossing- and to pav the local bodies the usual £3 for £T subsidy for any work involved at a level crossing. A letter was received 'rom tho County Clerk, Masterton County Council, advising that the Mastertoil Borough Council had * x: rc-sed dissatisfaction with the allocation of the heavy traffic fees and li - requested that a conference _o: the local authorities in the No. 10 Highways District be* convened for the purpose of discussing a fresh agreement. It was deeich d to appoint the chairman (Cr. K. B. Robertson) as this Council's delegate to the conference to be held on Monday, the 2nd December. 1935. Advice was received from the Valuer-General that a s|»ecial subsidy and rebate of 121 !>er cent, in respect of rates on lands used for farming purposes would be granted this year. On the motion of tho chairman, seconded by Cr. Hunter, it was decided to apply lor subsidy. .- ■ ■ Tenders for dog collars: It was decided to accept the tender of Messrs F. G. Reid. Ltd.. Petone, for the supply of 750 d.._ rs for the year 1930. The County ranger Mr G. T. Norman t reported for the - : : that he had handled one horse. two hulls and 26 cattle—fei - ted amounting to £2 7s.—Heoeiv !. Accounts amounting to £l3ll 4s Id were passed for payment.
