.V statement issued by the National Executive of the Labour Party mentions that official candidates are being nominated for 70 or 76 European seats, no candidates being minated for the Bay of Islands, Kaipara, Franklin, Egmont Nelson or Mataura seats.

The Party had no arrangements with any other organisation or party with regard to any seat. In the electorates which the Party was not contesting were men posing as unofficial Labour whom the Party, for various reasons, refused to endorse. The Party had no official candidates for the North Island Maori electorates but for the Southern Maori seat the Labour Par tv liad decided to ask its supporters to vote for Mi Tirikatene.
