MAE WEST TO-NIGHT. Mae West's amazing new contribution to screen history, “Belle of the Nineties,” shows at the King s Theatre to-night and reveals the Paramo int screen sensation more beautiful and alluring than ever, as the foremost charmer of tin* gallant Southland of the Gay and Naughty Nineties. With Roger Pryor, her lending man, as a two-fisted ring hero. John Alack Brown as a gallant lover, and John Miljan, the “tall and dark” menace, vliss West plays the part of a diamond-crusted charmer, who gives up lipr title* of burlesque* queen ni St. Louis to become the sweet - heart oi New Orleans. The plot, v. Inch includes a prize fight reminiscent of the former glory of the* ling, a diamond theft, a. muirder and a fire*, serves to bring Aliss West through the whirlwind of action and love-making to the arms of her true love, Prvor. Prominently east in the supporting roles are* Katharine* De Alillc, a lecent acquisition of the screen *. Libby Taylor, Warren Hynicr and Stuart Holmes. And, furnishing a background of entrancing rhythms for Aliss West’s songs, are Duke Ellington and liis orchestra. The whole* is sumptuously and elaborately set in a care*l’ul reconstruction o 1 the dazzling New Orleans of the* latter part of the* last century. Ihe costumes are* among the most beautilul ever seen on the screen.
