N.Z. ALLIANCE ADVISE? AGAINST PROHIBITION.
Sonic years ago. when a Bill was submitted to Parliament wit!* tile object of making the possession of liquor a. crime (a cardinal point ot the present prohibition platform 1 the N.Z. Alliance issued a liianilcsto which contained the following; "To make the possession o: liquor a crime, the effective detection ot which would require the correlative right of search in every house would be to establish an odious and inquisitional tyranny entirely foreign to tin- fundamental principles of British law and re tin- whole spirit ot British liberty. ■ The above phase ot prohibition tyranny had full rein in America, where a highly organised system -.1 espionage was created and u hi- a proved one ot the manv factors that brought about such a strong revulsion of feeling against the Kndueenth Amendment.
