RESIDENCE AT MANGAHAO.
Mr and Mrs. R. Gregory of Mangaluio. left their horn, last evening at about 7 .415 to attend a birthday party m I’ahiatua. Shortly after midnight a red reflection was noticed in the sky over Binne’s Mill nt ,si Mr Gregory accompanied by M r ) Gostord, decided to investigate. H drove to the top of Birnie's Hdl and front there could see that it was his own residence ahlase. In h’s haste iit turning a corner liis , ; ir left, the road and. we understand, turned over on its side no cue. however. living hurt.
At tbi N stage the twelve-roomed, residence was a mass of flames and >t was totally destroy«>d. as also were the contents. The house was insured for t'925 in the State Eire Office and tin* furniture and efl. . t ; tor £SOO in the Victoria Office.
