Last Night A daylight hold-up in which £SO was stolen from .Tomes O'Neill, collector for the Wellington Gas Company. was carried out in a lonely part of the road la-tween Lyall Bay and Houghton Bnv at about 11 o'clock on Saturday morning when two men stopped the motor-car lie was driving, attacked and iett him unconscious on the roadside and made off in the car which contained the money. Air O'Neill was halt-con-scious when picked up by i passing motorist a little later and hi- car was recovered in the afternoon abandoned in Sutherland road. He was struck on the- head several time- and wa s then earrn*d t<» -nle o» the road. His assailants the;, made* off in the car. The whole- affair took less than a minute. The assault took place on the most lonely part of the road. Except on holidays motorists using the road are few and far between and on thi- occasion tin- rcvul was completely deserted.
